The Chamber of Business and Industry of Albania was established in 2 June 1958, after the decision of the Council of Ministers, while the Chamber of Business and Industry of Gjirokaster was established on 1987. The Chamber of Business and Industry of Gjirokaster functions on the basis of the Law 9640 9/11/2006, according to which it is a Legal Body of non-profit character that acts on peripheral level. This means that its members are enterprises which are placed within the administrative boundaries of the Gjirokaster Prefecture (Gjirokaster, Tepelen, Pemet District). The Chamber of Business and Industry of Gjirokaster supports the development of interstate cooperation among its members and companies mainly from Greece, facilitating the imports and exports and providing the necessary know-how for dealing with the difficulties which impede the progress of the interstate cooperation. Goals of the Chamber of Business and Industry are the following: • Representation and protection of the legal and economic interests of its members • Promotion of commerce, industry and handicraft in peripheral level • Enhancement of the peripheral and national economic relations • Strengthening of the external economic and commercial relations not only between the Chambers, but also among their members • Exchange of information with the administration authorities, in order to incorporate them into the national and international business environment • Support of local and foreign businessmen who are interested in investing, concluding commercial agreements and developing business cooperations. • Uptake of initiatives of every kind according to the legislation for the development and the promotion of the business activity. The Chamber’s personnel has long-lasting experience, because of which high level services has been achieved, in accordance to European standards. The Chamber of Business and Industry of Gjirokaster has undertaken the responsibility to mount a large number of activities of business character, on national and peripheral level, and also abroad, such as the commercial exhibition “Expo Gjirokastra” and a wide range of other activities, like roundtables, actions for the support of the business activity, congresses, seminars. At the same time it participates as a partner for the implementation of European Programmes, such as INTERREG I-II-III. The continuous improvement of the services, the modern infrastructure, and the specialized and experienced personnel, make the Chamber of Business and Industry a precious assistant of the enterprises of the region. It encourages, promotes and develops the business activity with consistency and effectiveness. |
